George Caird enjoys an international reputation as an oboist and music educator. For this concert he brings together the group that won plaudits in 2004 for their CD of English works for oboe and strings, composed for the celebrated British oboist Léon Goossens, two of which are featured in this concert.

The Caird Oboe Quartet are George Caird, oboe; Simon Blendis, violin; Louise Williams, viola; Jane Salmon, cello

"All beautifully played by the oboist George Caird with some expert chamber-musician friends."

Schubert: Die Schöne Müllerin, D795

Saturday 14 April 2012 at 7:30pm

Mark Padmore enjoys a distinguished reputation for performances in opera, oratorio and on the concert platform, not least as a recitalist at which his performances of Schubert song cycles have been particularly well received.

“Singer and pianist are perfectly matched in temperament and musicality, and every note has been lovingly considered...exquisitely thoughtful and refined...The reflective melancholy of Die liebe Farbe is ravishingly painted...A great Schöne Müllerin.”   The Daily Telegraph

Susie Allan studied as a scholar at Worcester College, Oxford, and specialized in accompaniment at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Prizes include Accompanist of the Year (1993) and the Gerald Moore Award (1994).
